About WASH

100 million Nigerians still lack basic sanitation facilities and 63 Million do not have access to improved sources of drinking water – WHO and UNICEF DATA.

Poor access to improved water and sanitation leads to the death of more than 70,000 children under five annually.

Access To Clean Water

Use of contaminated drinking water and poor sanitary conditions result in increased Vulnerability of water borne diseases. Roshan Dev. Foundation works in proving access to clean water through digging and rehabilitation of boreholes within underserved communities.

Sanitation and Waste Management:

Roshan works in providing facilities such as toilet and services in proper orientation of communities for the safe disposal of human urine and feces.

We adopt the UNICEF toilet design and policy as it takes into consideration children and people with disability which are important components but often over looked.

We employ the use of the Five R’s of Waste management: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose and recycle. We repurpose by Upcycling waste materials such as waste Polythene bags into beautiful key holders, foot mat, handbags etc. through training community women on this skill and as an empowerment skill

Hygiene

We conduct community sensitization campaigns on hygiene to community leaders who will in turn share with the knowledge gained to their followers in the communities.
